Asbury University Announces 2026 Alumni Awards

Celebrating Asbury Alumni Who Serve Christ with Unwavering Faith and Global Impact

Asbury University alumni continue to make a remarkable impact across the globe: leading, serving, and innovating with faith that remains steadfast in every season. This year’s Alumni Award recipients embody that legacy, demonstrating how a Christ-centered education can shape lives of extraordinary influence and service.

The 2026 “A Award” recipients reflect decades of faithful leadership and global impact.

Dr. Christel Brabon ’01 has lived out her calling in some of the world’s most challenging medical contexts. After completing her medical training, she served as the only OB/GYN for 100,000 people in rural Bangladesh, offering both healing and hope. Today, as Department Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oasis Hospital in the United Arab Emirates, Brabon ministers to patients from more than 160 nations, quietly advancing the Kingdom through compassionate care and daily faithfulness.

Dr. David Hoag ’86 has devoted nearly three decades to Christian higher education, shaping institutions and leaders with vision and integrity. From serving as president of Warner University to his current role as President of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) which oversees more than 185 institutions, Hoag leads with a clear commitment to Christ and the mission of Christian education. His work continues to influence thousands of students and institutions worldwide, demonstrating that leadership grounded in faith can transform entire systems.

Dr. Jim Fuller ’71 has faithfully invested in the next generation through counseling, teaching, and leadership. With years of service spanning Honduras, Korea, and the United States, Fuller has dedicated his life to helping others discern their calling and grow in self-awareness. As a professor and leader in graduate counseling education, he integrates faith and psychological insight, equipping students to serve with both competence and compassion.

The Young Alumni Award honors Dr. Savanah Nisbett Landerholm ’11, whose work in higher education and publishing amplifies important conversations around leadership and equity. As the first graduate of Baylor University’s PhD program in Higher Education Studies and Leadership, she has already made a significant scholarly contribution through her book Beyond Equality. Her research highlights the experiences of women leaders, reflecting both intellectual rigor and a deep commitment to meaningful change rooted in faith and vocation.

Together, these alumni represent the breadth of Asbury’s influence: from hospitals and universities to global missions and academic scholarship.

Their stories are not only achievements but testimonies of lives surrendered to God’s calling.

There is no shortage of Asbury alumni worthy of recognition during this year’s reunion celebration.”
