Winter Storm Plan for Asbury University

Asbury University is closely monitoring an approaching winter storm expected to impact the region this weekend. A Winter Storm Warning  is n effect from early Saturday morning through Monday morning, with forecasts currently calling for significant snowfall totaling 8–16 inches beginning early Saturday and continuing through Sunday. Very cold temperatures are expected to follow into Monday and Tuesday mornings. While current forecasts indicate primarily snow, conditions may change.

Students, faculty and staff should plan ahead and prioritize safety. Snow accumulation, freezing temperatures and extreme wind chills may create hazardous travel and walking conditions across campus.

What to know

Asbury University Facilities teams are prepared for winter weather and will prioritize snow removal on critical campus walkways, dining access points, and the Student Center, followed by parking lots and perimeter areas as conditions allow.

Dining Services will operate on a normal weekend schedule:

  • Saturday: Brunch from 11 a.m.–1 p.m.; Dinner from 5–7 p.m.
  • Sunday: Breakfast from 8:30–9:30 a.m.; Lunch from 12–1:30 p.m.; Dinner from 5–7 p.m.

If classes are canceled on Monday, Dining Services will shift to a brunch schedule (11 a.m.–1 p.m.) and dinner (5–7 p.m.). The Bistro will be closed in that scenario.

Departments overseeing weekend events, athletics and area-specific operations will communicate any changes directly to affected students and employees via email.

Planning for Monday

University leadership will make a final decision regarding Monday classes and campus operations over the weekend after evaluating weather forecasts and road conditions.

If the University announces a closure or delay, faculty members will determine whether their courses move to online instruction and will communicate directly with their students. Classes already scheduled as online will meet as planned.

Any campus closure, delay or operational change will be communicated through Asbury University emergency text alerts as well as Asbury email

Winter weather safety reminders

Students and employees are encouraged to:

  • Dress for winter conditions with warm layers and footwear that provides good traction.
  • Stay alert during early morning and evening hours when visibility and temperatures are lowest.
  • Look out for one another and report hazardous conditions to Campus Safety if needed.
