Asbury University Shines at International Collegiate Sales Competition

The Asbury University Sales Team in the Dayton School of Business (DSB) recently placed at the International Collegiate Sales Competition (ICSC), competing in sales role play, sales management, and speed selling. With all events combined, the DSB team’s performance received 22nd place in ICSC’s “World Cup of Sales,” from 80 teams competing nationwide.

The combined performance of first-time competitors Franchesca Rooney ’27 and Liam Hanssen ’27 landed Asbury in 15th place from 80 teams competing in the Sales Role Play competition. Rooney placed 3rd in Round 1 and 2nd in the Wildcard round, each time just a single place short of advancing. Hanssen placed 3rd in Round 1 and competed in the Wildcard round where his 1st place finish moved him to the Quarterfinal round (the Top 60). In the Quarterfinals, Hanssen placed 2nd and advanced to the Semifinals, where he finished the tournament 5th in his room which landed him in the Final 20 of the 160 competing students.

Franco Patino ’26 and Gregorio Bustingorri ’26 competed in the Sales Management Case competition, developing recommendations, slides, and presenting their ideas over the course of 36 hours. Their third place finish in their cohort in Round 1 did not allow them to advance, but both students received practice analyzing a case, creating a fine set of slides, and presenting a well-designed plan for a panel of customers.

“We are thankful to the Lord for helping us through this long process of preparing and competing,” said Associate Professor of Marketing and Center for Professional Selling director Dr. George Allen. “These students did a great job representing Asbury and the Lord at this major event. I’m proud of them for their effort in preparing and competing and know they will all continue to develop these important skills as they prepare for their future careers.”

Led by Allen, the Asbury Sales Team has been a cornerstone of the DSB since 2018, graduating several members each year. The University hosts its own sales competition each fall in the Center for Professional Selling in the Shaw Collaborative Learning Center (CLC), which features rooms designed specifically for sales meetings, equipped with cameras and microphones to suit judging needs. Students interested in developing their sales skills can pursue a Sales minor and/or a Certificate in Professional Sales. Learn more.

On November 19, the DSB will host the annual Eagle Sales Competition where marketing students will compete in real-life role play scenarios and will be scored by guest judges in the Shaw CLC Sales Suite.

The DSB offers five majors (Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, and Sport Management), five minors (Accounting, Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Sport Management), the MBA program, and the M.S. in Accounting program. Learn more.
