Inauguration of President Gray, homecoming events
WILMORE, KY—The inauguration of Asbury College’s 17th president, Dr. Sandra C. Gray, is Oct. 5, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in Hughes Auditorium.
During the inaugural ceremony, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will present a welcome and challenge to Dr. Gray for her upcoming tenure as president of Asbury College. Dr. Gray will respond to Sen. McConnell’s challenge with her strategies and goals for the presidency.
At 11:45 a.m., guests are invited to a reception with Dr. Gray in the Student Center located behind Hughes Auditorium.
On Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. the College will host a coffee house in the Student Center addressing the relevance of Christian liberal arts in today’s challenging culture with special guests Dr. Jim Holsinger, presidential nominee for U.S. Surgeon General; Paul Corts, CCCU president; Mike Kane, Lexington businessman; Pat Jones, president of Christians in Visual Arts and others.
Other weekend events:
Friday, Asbury College students and others are invited to attend a special commissioning service with Dr. Gray at 9 a.m. in Hughes Auditorium.
The music department will perform an inaugural music concert in Hughes Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The event is free and open to all.
The art department will present the “Sacred Spaces” photography exhibit on Friday in the Kinlaw Library. An opening tea reception begins at 4 p.m. in the library lobby. The event is free and open to all.
