End of the Spear’s Steve Saint to speak in Chapel
WILMORE, KY—Steve Saint, related to the movie “End of the Spear,” is speaking during chapel services in Hughes Auditorium on Friday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m.
Saint, the son of martyred missionary Nate Saint featured in “End of the Spear,” is the founder of I-TEC (Indigenous People’s Technology and Education Center). I-TEC is a mission organization dedicated to empowering indigenous churches and their people to overcome technological and education hurdles in their journey toward independence.
His father, Nate Saint, was one of five missionaries killed in their attempt to befriend the Waodani also known as the Huaorani in Ecuador. Steve Saint was just five years old when his father died. His father’s sister, Rachel Saint, later lived and served among the Waodani people until her death in 1994.
A graduate of Wheaton College, Saint launched several successful businesses and worked as a missionary in West Africa, Central America and South America. At the request of the Huaorani elders, he returned to the Amazon in 1995 along with his family. There he met and befriended Mincaye, the man who killed his father. Their story is retold in the 2005 movie, “End of the Spear.”
