2006 Winter Olympic Games: Torino, Italy

On Friday February 10, the 2006 Winter Olympics kicked off in Torino, Italy—but not without the help of 28 Asbury College students. The media communications students and Jim Owens, professor of media communication at the College, are part of the more than 10,000 journalists and media operators helping to cover the Games.

They are working for TOBO, the Torino Olympics Broadcasting Organization, the company formed specifically to provide footage of the games for television audiences worldwide, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

This marks the seventh time Asbury College students have played an official role in the Olympics Games since 1984.

Several students left the states early to site see before the Games. Senior Jeremy White and junior Todd Zurin got up close and personal with the host of NBC’s Today Show, Katie Couric.

Please be in prayer for our students and their travels abroad.
