  • Asbury Prof Selected to Judge Book Awards

    Dr. Devin Brown, an Asbury University English Professor, was recently invited to serve as a judge for Christianity Today's 2012 Book Awards for the second time, helping to choose the best fictional work of the year. Brown previously served as a judge for the 2009 Christianity Today Book Awards. “I am honored and delighted to have been invited, now twice, to be one of the judges,” Brown said. “Honored because being asked to help pick the best of the best is quite humbling, and delighted because, of course, I get to read all the finalist books each year.”

  • Asbury Tolkien Expert Comments on Preview

  • Asbury Professor to Show Film at Festival

    Asbury University English Professor Devin Brown will show the documentary C. S. Lewis: Why He Matters Today at the C. S. Lewis Festival in Petoskey, Mich., on November 11. He will then deliver the sermon for the Festival's Sunday Service at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on November 13. The 30-minute documentary, which was produced by Asbury students and alumni under the direction of Professor Greg Bandy, looks at Lewis’ efforts to reclaim Christian reason, to rediscover Christian imagination and to restore a Christian vision of humanity. It features interviews with some of today’s most prominent Christian scholars, thinkers and writers including: Chuck Colson, Michael Flaherty, Douglas Gresham, Tim Keller and Eric Metaxas.

  • Asbury professor helps with Operation Narnia for Samaritan’s Purse

    As Aslan brought Christmas to C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia; Samaritan’s Purse has been making Christmas wishes come true for more than 20 years through Operation Christmas Child. This year Operation Christmas Child is partnering with the upcoming film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which is set for release in December. Through this partnership, Narnia fans will be encouraged to participate in the world’s largest Christmas project by packing shoe box gifts that will make a difference in the lives of needy children.

  • Team produces interview of Walden Media president
    June 29, 2010
    A team of two Asbury University professors and an Asbury University student produced a video interview of Micheal Flaherty, president of Walden Media. The C.S. Lewis Estate has entrusted Walden Media with bringing to life the film adaptations of The Chronicles of Narnia. The video will be premiered preceding the release of the third film in the series, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
