Acton Institute's Jay Richards on campus, Nov. 1-2

The business and economics department will host a symposium with Dr. Jay Richards of the Acton Institute on campus, November 1-2.

Jay W. Richards is a research fellow and director of Acton Media at the Acton Institute in Grand Rapids, Mich. He has a Ph.D. in philosophy and theology (with honors) from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he was formerly a teaching fellow. He is the author of many scholarly and popular articles in publications such as the Washington Post, Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Washington Times, as well as several books, including “The Untamed God and The Privileged Planet: How our place in the cosmos is designed for discovery,” with astronomer Guillermo Gonzalez. He is executive producer of the documentary, "The Call of the Entrepreneur" (Acton Media, 2007), and is currently writing “The Christian Case for Capitalism” (HarperCollins, 2009).

Dr. Richards begins the symposium on Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. with a talk on Wealth Creation and Christian Stewardship. At 7:30 p.m. a pre-screening of the documentary “The Call of the Entrepreneur” will be shown in Bennett-Bernard.

On Friday at 7:30 a.m., Dr. Richards will speak to community business leaders in Lexington over breakfast at the Campbell House Inn. Dr. Richards will also be interviewed on the Leland Conway Show at 9:30 a.m. on WLAP, 630 AM.

The symposium concludes on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon on campus. Students are invited to bring their trays to the Gray Room to hear Dr. Richards speak on Environmental Stewardship.
