Dr. Martin Seitz - Advent Week 4 - "Christ's Mission"

December 23, 2013

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life" -- John 3:16 (NRSV).

The fourth week in Advent symbolizes God's love for humanity as revealed in Christ.  We could think of each day of this week as representing how God reveals His love in Christ in various love languages:  (1) the promise of the gift, the treasure, of a new heavenly, material body when we are united with Christ; (2) an eternity of quality time with God; (3) Christ's touching humanity and allowing humanity to touch Him; (4) the acts of service, the tasks He performed for us while on earth--teaching and healing; (5) what He told us as recorded in Scripture and brought to mind by the Holy Spirit; (6) His ongoing intercession for us; and, (7) His trustworthiness.
