Job Title:                    Catalyst Center for Applied Learning Coordinator

Reports to:                 Associate Dean for the Catalyst Center

FLSA Classification:   Exempt

Job Purpose:

The Catalyst Center Coordinator works collaboratively with all members of the Catalyst Center to provide students with a wide array of experiences and relationships to grow their professional, personal, and academic capacities.  Opportunities provided to students through the Catalyst Center include internships, mentorships, study abroad, cross-cultural immersion experiences, and service.  An important part of the position is supporting the ministry and mission of the University and advancing the academic excellence and spiritual vitality of our University and students. Each employee plays an important role in the development of the Christian faith in our students.

Essential Functions:

Duties (Global Partnerships & Initiatives):

  • Provide Study Abroad advising to traditional undergraduate students enrolled at the university.
  • Process students’ Study Abroad and Off-Campus Program applications, registrations, eligibility, and other pertinent forms.
  • Coordinate the processing of all study abroad forms.
  • Promote Study Abroad opportunities specifically Asbury courses such as Paris Semester, Human Dignity Tour and other AU study courses.
  • Provide information seminars and advise students on Fulbright, and Gilman opportunities.
  • Assist in the organization and facilitation of Study Abroad Orientations in the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Maintain updated Student Roster; add trip information to Student Roster with all active and inactive student information.
  • Support campus-wide global programming.
  • Inform the registrar each semester regarding students who have completed their study abroad programs.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Study Abroad website and all related social media presences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Duties (Catalyst Center):

  • Coordinate programming to support shared experiential learning goals of the offices within the Catalyst Center.
  • Maintain Catalyst Center website
  • Oversee Catalyst Center social media presence
  • Create promotional materials for Catalyst Center
  • Promote Catalyst Center activities and resources to students and campus community
  • Recruit Mentors and Mentees and coordinate matches for the Mentor Program for the Professions.
  • Collaborate on orientations for mentors and mentees.
  • Support mentor program growth and development in other ways as assigned.
  • Support initiatives of Asbury Outreach Coalition
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time on-site position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Potential exists to work some evenings and weekends.

Travel:

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree with experience in International/Cross-Cultural, Mentoring, Study Abroad, Internships, Career and/or Service Learning preferred.
  • Knowledge of international education, intercultural learning, language and cultural understanding.
  • Knowledge of mentoring programming and career preparedness training. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Strong organizational skills are essential.
  • A committed and dynamic Christian faith is vital along with the ability to support the University’s theological position, lifestyle standards and mission.
