Description/Responsibilities: 
Most Recent Update: May 2013 Responsibilities and Roles: A. Spiritual Leadership 1. The expectation of this person is to take the initiative in reaching out to youth to develop healthy and wholesome Christian relationships. 2. This person is expected to be able to disciple persons, particularly youth, into a daily walk with Jesus Christ. B. Shepherding and Oversight 1. Oversee the coordination of all ministries for youth of the church (grades 6-12). 2. Work in conjunction with the Youth Renovation Team to oversee and provide leadership and guidance for youth coordinators, counselors, and youth in planning weekly meetings, service projects, fun activities, fund-raising projects, seasonal events, mission trips, retreats, small groups, tours, etc. 3. Serve as a resource person to counselors, teachers, coordinators, and other youth leaders. 4. Teach classes when necessary. 5. Oversee the arrangements of worship for the youth and Youth Praise Band. 6. Oversee a self-sustaining team focused upon a ministry with young adults (ages18-25). C. Contact with Youth 1. Take the initiative in being available and accessible to youth. 2. Be aware of the needs of youth in regard to family, school, community and culture. 3. Be where the youth are by attending school events, sporting activities, etc. 4. Make positive use of all appropriate social media. D. Administrative Leadership 1. Recruit, train, and support volunteer adult leadership for the total church ministry with youth including youth Sunday school classes. 2. Recruit and oversee the assistance of a Youth Intern as one is available. 3. Responsibility for building the Youth Budget and working within the same. 4. Oversee the curriculum, resources and supplies for all aspects of our ministries with youth - including Sunday school classes, Bible studies and Sunday night programs - and young adults Sunday school. E. Other Responsibilities across the Congregation and beyond 1. Opportunities to provide leadership during worship. 2. Be an advocate for the youth to the total church. Be an advocate of the total church to youth. 3. Some Conference and District work is permissible. The acceptance of this work must be cleared by the Senior Pastor prior to accepting. Local church work/assignments will always take priority over Conference and District work. 4. Other items as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Requirements/Qualifications: 
This person must profess a personal faith in Jesus Christ, exhibit genuine Christ-like character and commitment and have a passion for youth.
