Description/Responsibilities: 
Primary Objective (Basic Purpose): To lead and coordinate the overall children’s ministries of the Dayton UMC to help our congregation fulfill our vision to Know Christ, Grow Faith and Go Witness. Primary Duties (What activities are done to accomplish the objective): 1. Live a life in agreement with the Dayton United Methodist Church Leadership covenant. 2. Develop a discipleship path for children to connect to God through Jesus Christ, grow in faith and understanding and develop a heart for service and witness 2.1. Implement a system for tracking children and where they are on their discipleship path. 3. Build relationships and communicate with parents to help them connect as partners in their child’s spiritual growth 4. Align all children’s ministries and programs with our vision to Know Christ, Grow Faith, and Go Witness. 5. As a leader of leaders recruit, empower, and encourage qualified adult leaders to serve in children’s ministries. 6. Proactively plan and execute Children’s ministries using quality Christian curriculum. 6.1. If there is a program for the adults, then there is a meaningful program planned for the children. (For example: Weekly worship, VBS, Family Night Live, special events like Lenten services, missionary conference, etc.) 7. Provide coordination and staff support for all children’s ministries including, Daycare and Preschool, Upward sports ministries, Outreach ministries, and Camp ministries. 7.1. A Strong partnership with the Youth Pastor will be essential to help the children transition into young adulthood. 8. Properly create an annual budget and effectively manage expenses to accomplish goals 9. Assist the Lead Pastor, as needed, by serving Communion, providing altar counseling, preaching occasionally and conducting weddings and funerals, counseling and hospital visitation.
Requirements/Qualifications: 
Required Education, Experience and Attributes: 1. Committed Christian with the same basic philosophy of ministry and theology as the Dayton United Methodist Church. 2. Passion and love for Children’s Ministry. 3. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required. 4. Able to pray, teach, and maintain professional relationships. 5. A servant’s heart for ministry and a deep desire to see people come to Christ and grow in their faith. 6. Ability to conduct all financial, personal and church matters with confidentiality.
