POSITION: Full-time, tenure-track position beginning Fall 2024

SHAW SCHOOL OF SCIENCES INFORMATION: Asbury University announces a tenure-track faculty position in Equine Studies in the Department of Science & Health to begin in August, 2024. The Department of Science & Health includes programs in biology, chemistry, exercise science, and equine studies/science. Many Asbury science students go on to graduate programs or professional school. Students receive personal attention in both introductory and upper division classes. The curriculum includes majors in Equine Studies, Equine Assisted Services and Equine Science. Asbury University recently completed construction of the 29,000-square-foot Henry and Elsie Bayless Arena, a new facility that includes 26 stalls and a Western riding arena on Asbury’s 343-acre Equine property. All of our students participate in an internship, some at Asbury and others at equine centers around central Kentucky.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach various undergraduate courses and laboratories. These may include courses such as introduction to equine studies, equine health & first aid, conformation, farm management, and equine program administration, along with other courses as needed .  Other responsibilities include advising students and mentoring undergraduate scholarship.  Participate in campus, university, and community service activities and professional organizations.

ACADEMIC RANK:  Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated.  Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS: A masters or doctoral degree in Equine Studies or a closely related field required. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered Christian environment is required. Prior college-level teaching experience in both classroom and equine farm environments preferred.
