Asbury Hosts Hundreds of Visitors for Fall Preview and Family Visit

This past weekend, Asbury University opened its campus to more than 100 prospective students for the
annual Fall Preview on Friday immediately followed by family weekend, which drew about 500 visitors.

The prospective high school students and their families received a morning welcome to campus from Asbury President Dr. Kevin Brown, followed by various immersions in the spiritual, academic and campus life settings. 

“At Asbury University, our desire is for you to belong, become and be set apart,” Brown told Fall Preview visitors, adding that the school’s aim is for students to engage in deep thought, effective service and ordered love with a holistic approach to fullness and wholeness in every aspect of life. “Our faculty and our staff believe in the vision, and we are here because we believe in the vision of this school. And we believe in our students. We believe in their potential. We believe that our investment in them is worth it, and it matters.”

Prospective families also partook in Asbury chapel before breaking off into groups related to their own academic paths, including campus tours, athletics department excursions, and financial aid and admissions meetings. An AU faculty panel was provided for the students to learn about the plethora of study opportunities and departments.

The evening was ushered in by a Reasoner Green festival with food trucks, yard games, and live music. Prospective students had a choice to cheer on the Lady Eagles volleyball team in their game against Rio Grande, enjoy an ensemble consisting of the Asbury Concert Band, Orchestra, and Chamber Ensembles.

The day concluded with the premiere of the Asbury original film “Damaged Goods,” at the Lyric Theatre in Lexington. Any students interested in the award-winning Media Communications department could attend this event and learn more about the possibilities accompanying the degree.

Upcoming preview events include the Equine Program visit event on Oct. 21 and the Nov. 3 homeschool visit day. 

On Saturday, the weekend continued with a day full of family visit activities. Parents enjoyed breakfast with Dr. Kevin Brown, a morning concert and reception. In the evening, families could attend the infamous World Gospel Mission (WGM) Goat Roast followed by Asbury men’s soccer vs. alumni game.
