Prof. Emily Walsh joined the faculty as assistant professor of accounting in the summer of 2008.  Prior to her appointment at Asbury, she spent 10 years working for Lexmark International in a variety of roles within Accounting, Internal Audit and Finance.  She was awarded the “Make It Happen” award from Lexmark management on three different occasions and was hand-picked in 2007 to spearhead the financial operations for the Canadian print service solution customers.  She has been responsible for payrolls for up to 4,200 employees and acted as the functional lead on the implementation of a web-based employee expense system at Lexmark, requiring her to train 2,000 employees and managers on the system. Her real business passion is process evaluation and change management, which she has been able to integrate with accounting and operational functions in order to create more efficient and effective practices.  She received her M.B.A. from Norwich University in 2006 and her B.A. from Asbury College in 1998.  She is currently completing her D.B.A. in Accounting thru Anderson University.

Prof. Walsh has a great passion for learning and continuing education.  Continuing education has played a vital role in her development as a business woman and accountant.  While in Internal Audit at Lexmark, she was an active participant in the Central Kentucky Institute of Internal Auditors chapter; and from 2005 – 2007, she was the program coordinator, responsible for selecting and scheduling speakers and locations for the monthly chapter functions.  Prof. Walsh began teaching accounting part-time for Asbury in the summer of 2007 in the APS program and was commissioned to restructure the accounting curriculum for that program.  It was through that experience that her passion for learning was solidified and her calling into full-time teaching was confirmed.

Prof. Walsh lives in Wilmore with her husband Eric (Asbury class of 1999) and their two children, Suzanna and James.
