SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Director of Contemporary Worship will be responsible for all aspects of planning and leading the 11am worship service. The purpose of the position is to engage and lead the gathered body in communal, Christ-centered worship which is authentic, celebrative, participatory, and thoughtful. This position will also utilize the Director’s particular gifts to compliment other ministry initiatives at Second Pres. as a part of their responsibility. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop, lead and nurture a worship team of diverse instrumentation and members with the ability to reach out and enfold new members. • Build spiritual community among members of the worship team. • Plan weekly worship for the 11:11 service collaborating with Pastor and/or Director of Worship and Music. Available to serve in 9AM or other services as needed. • Prepare and rehearse worship team through weekly rehearsals for Sunday worship as well as for special events. • Participate in weekly Staff meetings. • Participate in all church events in furthering the mission of Second Pres. • Manage the Contemporary Worship budget effectively. • Roughly 40% of time used serving in other ministry initiatives that fit Director’s particular giftedness in a way that connects to those who might attend the 11:11 service.
QUALIFICATIONS: • Sincere and growing faith, trusting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. • Character which exhibits genuine concern for others and a demonstrated willingness to be a servant-leader. • An understanding of and passionate commitment to further the purpose of Second Pres. • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to build and equip teams at a high level. • Experience in designing and leading “contemporary” style worship while utilizing more “traditional” texts and liturgical elements of worship within the reformed tradition. • Experience and competence in working with sound and media. • Excellent instrumental and/or vocal skills.
