Music ministers have many responsibilities, which include leading in public prayer, giving the announcements and receiving the offering, as well as the major responsibility of leading both the choir and congregational music. Music ministers need to be sincere believers in the faith and be prepared to share their faith with other people. The music minister must be able to express God's love through music and personal witness. Direct the organization and implementation of a comprehensive church music program including choir, vocal and instrumental ensembles, and drama teams. Assist the pastor in planning congregational services of the church and be responsible for selecting the music. Serve as a leader in the worship services, giving direction to the congregational singing, choir, and other phases of worship. Supervise paid and volunteer music staff. Conduct regular meetings for the purpose of planning. Conduct regular practices. Serve on any boards as deemed appropriate by the elders. Coordinate the music program with the organizational calendar and emphases of the church. Prepare reports necessary to keep the church fully informed concerning the music ministry. Be informed of our church goals, emphases, publications, materials, policies, and plans for employing them as they relate to the local church. Cooperate with associational and state leaders in promoting activities of mutual interest. Assist other staff members in church-wide events when needed. Keep informed on current music methods, materials, promotional ideas, and administrative techniques. Maintain a consistent program of self-improvement. Other duties as assigned.
Prefer Bachelor in Music. Minimum of 2 years administrative experience. Minimum of 3 years music/pastoral experience. Excellent communication skills. Close working relationship with God.
