JOB SUMMARY The Nursery and Preschool Ministries Director position is an opportunity to invest in the lives of children and families by extending God’s love through serving, fellowship, teaching and guiding. As a ministry director, working with the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries, this individual will play an integral part in equipping, investing in, and releasing the Vineyard Community Church (VCC) family to serve in the different areas of Vineyard Children & Family Ministries. SUPPORT The Nursery and Preschool Ministries Director supports the VCC vision by giving attention to living to the highest level of moral integrity, faithful attendance of church services, maintaining a positive spirit, and serving the Lord with excellence in all areas of ministry. EXPECTATIONS The Nursery and Preschool Ministries Director will grow spiritually and professionally in specific areas, while being a part of the VCC ministry team. The use of skills from previous professional experiences, as well as an ongoing openness to development will be an invaluable asset to this ministry. This position is a key team player in helping guide VCC to fulfill its vision and purpose. Opportunity will be given for spiritual counseling, professional development, and job related knowledge enhancement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Operate as the point person for ministries to nursery and preschool age children, as well as their families. Provide 10 hours of weekly ministry service, including a commitment to Saturday evening and Sunday morning ministry activities. Build teams of volunteers by recruiting, developing, and engaging in their lives. Prepare curriculum and materials for weekend ministry activities. Make sure goals are met inside classrooms with curriculum and volunteers. Assist in social networking and web-based ministry to connect families to over-all family ministry vision and weekly lessons. Be prepared and willing to step into preschool volunteer roles that are not staffed. Assist in the utilization of “check-in” systems and church database systems directly related to nursery and preschool. Assist the Associate Pastor of Families in any additional needs related to nursery and preschool ministries.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Prior experience working in a nursery and/or preschool environment. Foundational understanding of Bible concepts and curriculum development for children. Regular timely attendance during agreed upon hours. Familiarity with social media, internet based applications, and common computer software applications. Ability to effectively and lovingly communicate with staff, volunteers and family members. Pursuing an active, growing, personal relationship with Christ. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES In addition to the above and as required from time to time, there may be additional areas of supervision for which this position will have responsibility as assigned by the Associate Pastor of Families. SUPERVISION This position takes direction from and reports to the Associate Pastor of Families, who will subsequently conduct periodic performance evaluations and recommend any changes in compensation.
