Brief Description of our Church Congregation: Our approximately 650-member church reflects the people of South Orlando – reaching through Celebration and encompassing the larger communities of Hunter’s Creek, Davenport, Kissimmee, Poinciana, St. Cloud, Winter Garden and many others. Members represent all ages and cultural backgrounds and also come from a variety of Christian traditions - Catholic, Episcopalian, Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Brethren, Assemblies of God, Church of God, and independent church denominations. All feel at home at Community Presbyterian Church. Job Description Job Purpose: To lead the development of the spiritual growth of the youth in our congregation and throughout our community. Accountability: The person who fulfills this position is accountable to the Pastor as Head of Staff and to the Session of the church. He or she will also work closely with the Elder of Christian Education. This person must have a professed faith in and love for Jesus Christ. Key Responsibilities: 1. To plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and grow our Youth Ministry Program while taking into account the overall development of all youth: spiritual, emotional, mental, intellectual and physical. 2. To establish a budget for the Youth Ministry that is approved by the Finance Committee, and to work within that budget as a good and faithful steward. 3. To oversee, develop and grow age appropriate Youth Group events for all High School and Middle School youth. 4. To oversee, develop and grow weekly Bible study opportunities for all youth. 5. To oversee, develop, and continue to offer opportunities for a youth band at the regular youth group meeting nights in an effort to enhance worship. 6. To do regular “contact work” with all youth. This work includes, but is not limited to: a. Lunch visits at the schools b. Group or Family visits for lunch, dinner, or coffee at a local establishment c. Sporting events d. Concerts and/or other performances e. Graduation parties f. Award ceremonies 7. To plan, coordinate and lead weekend and week long trips for spiritual commitment, renewal and fellowship for all youth. These trips can include but not be limited to: a. Winter Break trip(s) b. Winter/Early Spring weekend trip(s) c. Spring Break trip(s) d. Summer week long trip(s) e. Summer mission project(s) f. Fall weekend trip(s) 8. To plan, oversee, coordinate, recruit and communicate to the congregation all aspects of the Confirmation Classes with the Elder of Christian Education and the Sr. Pastor. 9. To oversee the Youth Room. This includes but is not limited to: a. Overall cleanliness after every meeting b. Restocking any paper supplies that are used for youth meetings (i.e. toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, etc.) c. Ensuring the sanctuary, expansion and all offices used are neat and organized after use, and that no office supplies or items are taken during use (i.e. Paper clips, pens, paper, candy, etc.) d. Cleaning the bathroom after every event and restocking paper supplies. 10. To work with the Director of Worship for all Youth Ministry AV needs, repairs, and purchases, as well as instruction and training on use. 11. To develop several clear, consistent and regular communication tools with the youth, their parents the staff and the congregation. 12. To create and maintain accurate records and data bases as to attendance, names, all phone numbers, e-mail addresses, addresses, etc… 13. To recruit, train, supervise and develop volunteers. 14. To develop a Youth Ministry Task Force to help plan the Youth Ministry of the church and to coordinate those plans with the overall direction and ministry of Community Presbyterian Church as a whole. 15. To oversee, develop and maintain other ministries and missions of this church as assigned by the Pastor. 16. To assist with Sunday worship services (liturgy, prayer, etc.) as needed. 17. To be an active, involved, supportive participant in the life of this congregation. 18. To be a positive influence, spiritual leader and example to all. 19. To work with all other church staff in a spirit of unity and cooperation, keeping the overall health, schedule and success of the whole church in mind. 20. To sign and follow all church policies and procedures.
