Class Description

How do you do it? What are some essentials needed to go from script to camera for a good audition? Carol Anderson teaches these, plus some important tips to make you look stronger and better on camera.  Asbury students demonstrate these concepts for a great visual learning experience, providing practical help for your next theatre or film audition.

Prof. Carol Anderson

About Your Instructor

Carol Anderson is on faculty as Lecturer in the Department of Theatre & Cinema Performance. She has an MFA in Acting from UNC-Chapel Hill and brings years of professional experience in acting for stage, film and television to this Masterclass in acting for camera. In addition to teaching acting and directing, Carol has directed several plays for for the Theatre department, including the sold-out show, “Crowned…” that Asbury students performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. As a professional actress, she performs nationally with Jim Shores as Acts of Renewal Theatre Company. Their work with professional comedy theatre has given them opportunities to present across the US, UK and Israel. As Artistic Director for Acts of Renewal, Carol has been able to to offer Asbury students professional theatre/ministry opportunities; such as her directing the show that gave 6 students opportunity to perform with them on a Familylife marriage cruise for 2500 people. Asbury students also performed with Carol in Nancy DeMoss’ Revive Our Hearts women’s conferences, where their performances live streamed to over 400,000 globally. Investing in the next generation of artists is one of Carol’s highest priorities. She’s excited to offer a taste of what students learn in the Asbury Department of Theatre & Cinema Performance for this Masterclass.

David Whitaker

Masterclass: Filmmaking

Taught by Professor David Whitaker, a veteran of the industry, this class on filmmaking will expose you to some of the basics of creating films. David draws from his own experience and the content he teaches at Asbury to equip you with some entry-level tools and tips for creating professional video content and telling stories through film.

Masterclass: Adventure

Taught by Professor Trent Ellsworth, an expert on leadership and all things outdoors, the Adventure Education and Leadership masterclass exposes you two three basic areas of outdoors activities: hammock camping, rock climbing and canoeing. Trent takes his expertise and makes the outdoors accessible to anyone, and ultimately teaches how anyone can benefit from being involved in adventure education and leadership activities.
