Equine Management Position

POSITION: Full-time tenure track faculty position in Equine Management for fall 2014.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree required, Doctorate degree preferred in the field of Equine Science/Management or related field with a background in Animal Science, Agribusiness, Natural Resources, Equine Husbandry or Veterinary Medicine. Experience in various riding disciplines with demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate students and grant writing preferred.

INSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENT: Candidates must give evidence of an evangelical Christian commitment and be in harmony with the University’s Statement of Faith.

ACADEMIC RANK: Assistant or Associate Professor, depending upon qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching a broad range of courses including, but not necessarily limited to, Equine Studies, Horsemanship Ministry, Equine Administration, Horse Training, and Stable, Farm and Ranch Management classes. Responsibilities would also include supervising programs within the Major of Equine Management, student mentoring and advising, appropriate committee assignments, and curricular development.

COMPENSATION: Compensation is competitive and dependent upon education and experience. Benefits include retirement (TIAA/CREF) and insurance plans.

HPER DEPARTMENT: The department offers various majors including Equine Management with emphases in Management and Equine Facilitated Mental Health. A minor is offered in Equine Management. In addition the department offers majors in Exercise Science with emphases in Human Performance and Health Professions, Health and Physical Education Teacher Certification, and Recreation with emphases in Public Recreation and Adventure Leadership. Additional minors are also offered in Adventure Leadership, Coaching, Exercise Science, and Recreation.
