Asbury to Welcome Guy Penrod in Concert

WILMORE, Ky. — In celebration of the Christmas season, Asbury University will welcome Grammy and Dove award-winning vocal artist Guy Penrod in concert on Dec. 1 in Hughes Auditorium. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Following the concert, guests are invited to enjoy a reception with refreshments in Asbury’s Student Center.

As a Christmas gift to the community, admission is free, but ticket reservation is required due to limited seating.Tickets are now sold out. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list, email advancement@asbury.edu with your name, email and number of tickets desired.

A Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee, Penrod is internationally known both as a solo artist and as the former lead singer of the Gaither Vocal Band. Performing at Asbury for the first time, he’s eager to share “Christmas and More” with campus and the wider community.

“I’m looking forward to praising the Lord with Asbury and celebrating Jesus as we enter the Christmas season,” Penrod said.

A growing tradition, Asbury’s Christmas Gift to the Community is a yearly celebration that brings outstanding artists to Wilmore. The event has previously featured artists like Veritas and Joe Castillo, and this year, Penrod’s unique take on Christmas favorites and more will uplift and inspire.

“As we approach the beautiful Advent season, celebrating the gift of God’s Son, it is our blessed opportunity to offer a gift to Asbury’s campus and the community beyond,” said Asbury President Sandra C. Gray. “It is our great joy to offer a concert featuring the outstanding talent of Guy Penrod, and we hope guests will be inspired, encouraged and re-focused on God’s remarkable grace during this season of the ultimate gift.”
