Asbury’s ImpactU Camps Open for Registration
WILMORE, Ky. — Creative Writing or Business? Film or Environmental Science? This summer, high school students from across the U.S. will dive into new subject areas, develop new skills and explore college life and Christian community during Asbury University's ImpactU summer academic camps.
Open to high school students, ImpactU offers camps in Equine, Business Entrepreneurship, Film, Music, Theology and much more. A college-type, residential experience, ImpactU gives students hands-on experience in the field of their choice, instruction from Asbury’s outstanding faculty and an introduction to the Asbury community. Register now for ImpactU 2017.
"ImpactU camps are innovative, mind-expanding and just plain fun,” said Mark Troyer, vice president for Enrollment Management. “Where else can you spend a week experiencing business entrepreneurship, learning film production, engaging in biology fieldwork and much more — all in the context of Asbury's Christian community? It’s a great way for students to explore their interests and get a taste of college life while they’re still in high school."
New in 2017, Asbury will offer LAUNCH — The Entrepreneurship Camp. LAUNCH will guide participants through the process of turning an idea into a successful business. Students will learn to evaluate the market potential of their ideas, choose among alternatives, understand customer needs, test products and much more.
“You don’t have to wait until you graduate from college to start a business,” said Dr. Mark Gill, an Asbury Business professor and director of LAUNCH. “We have students at Asbury who have started ventures while they’re still here in school, and we want to encourage high school students to do the same — to get their feet wet, so that when they get to college it will put their classes in context.”
For the second year, ImpactU will also offer a special two-week camp in theology and leadership called Youth Becoming Leaders: High School Christian Leadership and Global Transformation Institute. Students apply and are accepted into this grant-funded camp that equips high school students for theologically-guided living and decision making as they grow in becoming leaders in their own sphere of influence and society.
