Asbury Joins Kentucky Gives Day on April 9
We all know giving to Asbury University is a great way to make a lasting investment in the lives of students. This week, friends who give on Wednesday, April 9, can make their investment go even further as Asbury partners with Kentucky Gives Day.
Kentucky Gives Day is a 24-hour online giving event that brings non-profit organizations and Kentuckians together to make a difference in the Commonwealth. This year, Asbury has joined the group of more than 400 organizations to promote our “1,325: A Gift for Every Student” campaign — a year-long initiative in which every gift made to the Fund for Asbury University will go to student scholarships.
On Kentucky Gives Day, the top five fundraising organizations in each leaderboard category will receive bonus prizes. Also, Asbury’s Board of Trustees is matching gifts on Kentucky Giving Day with a 2-to-1 match up to $50,000. This means a gift of $100 turns into $300.
Paula Diaz, a sophomore from Florida, has seen first-hand the impact of scholarships and giving at Asbury. The recipient of an academic scholarship and the Jose Velasquez Scholarship, Diaz works several hours a week reaching out to alumni to share opportunities to support the University’s work.
“I first heard of Asbury my senior year of high school through my French teacher, Kibbie DeJarnett (Class of '79),” Diaz said. “I feel so, so overwhelmingly blessed with all that God did to give me the chance to come here. Without Him, Madame DeJarnett, and the blessing of scholarships, I would definitely not be here. Through the 1,325 Initiative, students are going to have the chance to be blessed and to get the major of their dreams at the school they love so much.”
As with other gifts made to Asbury, gifts made through Kentucky Gives Day are charitable gifts. Our giving page for the event is www.asbury.edu/kentuckygives, where you can find out more about Asbury’s involvement with Kentucky Gives Day and make your gift. As an added convenience, you can schedule your gift right now to be processed on April 9. If you would prefer, you can also give directly through Asbury’s Web site at www.asbury.edu/1325.
The “1,325: A Gift for Every Student” initiative can put academic excellence and spiritual vitality within reach of even more young people. Will you partner with us today?
