Asbury Announces New VP of Advancement
WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury University President Sandra C. Gray announced Wednesday that Charles Shepard II has been hired as Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
Shepard — a 1999 graduate of Asbury University — comes to the school from the University of Findlay (Ohio), where he has served in a variety of capacities including associate vice president for development, campaign director, director of development and director of alumni and parent relations. He holds a master of arts from the University of Findlay and certificates from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and Indiana University’s The Center on Philanthropy.
“It is an honor and a privilege to return to an institution that gave so much to both my wife and me,” said Shepard, whose wife, Joy, is also a 1999 graduate of Asbury. “We are excited by the opportunity to rejoin the Asbury community and work alongside President Gray and so many others who invested in us years ago as students. Asbury’s vision is bold — and incredibly relevant — and the opportunity to help generate enthusiasm and build support for it is very exciting.”
The Vice President of Institutional Advancement is responsible for promoting the University through comprehensive programs in development, alumni relations and marketing and communications. The position requires a capacity to understand and translate the mission of Asbury University to a wide variety of constituents, from prospective students to funding organizations.
“We are excited to welcome Charlie Shepard to Asbury,” said Gray. “His breadth of experience across all aspects of Advancement and his strengths in team building will help Asbury grow to new levels of engagement and support.”
Shepard expects to begin full-time duties at Asbury in February. He and his wife have two sons, Keegan and Liam.
