Cafeteria and soccer field under renovation
WILMORE, KY—Students returning to campus in August will be privy to some exciting campus improvements.
Dining in Z.T. Johnson Cafeteria will look and feel different this fall with the addition of several amenities, including a demonstration cooking line featuring a chef who will prepare your meal just the way you like it right in front of you.
The interior renovation and redecoration this summer also include the installation of a new heating and air-conditioning ventilation system and new energy efficient doors and windows. Restrooms have been renovated and a handicap accessible restroom has been added. There are new wall and window treatments, as well as new ceiling titles and improved lighting.
Once the renovation is complete, all food distribution areas will be placed in the center of the dining room to allow for better traffic flow and a more efficient, attractive use of the space.
“Renovation of the cafeteria is important since the facility is used by all students multiple times A day,” said Dr. Charlie Fiskeaux, vice president for business affairs and treasurer. “The new finishes in the dining room have been chosen to bring ‘warmth’ to the dining area. We believe that the students will find the renovated cafeteria a pleasant and positive change when they return this fall.”
The soccer field is also under construction. Since May, crews have widened and crowned the field for better water drainage and installed an underground sprinkling system to maintain the turf. The playing surface was recently seeded with Bermuda grass and is beginning to take root. The retaining wall for the new stands has been completed and the light poles surrounding the field have been straightened. The field will be completed by the time students return in the fall.
