WILMORE, Ky. — Decked-out residence halls, the sound of Greensleeves resonating in Hughes Auditorium and a sold-out concert gift to the community can only mean one thing: it’s Christmas time at Asbury University! As the semester comes to a close and finals approach, a full lineup of festive events offers campus an opportunity to pause and rejoice in this holy season.

“Christmas and More” with Guy Penrod (Sold Out)

Christmas Music Chapel

  • Time: Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 10 a.m.
  • Location: Hughes Auditorium
  • Perhaps the most anticipated chapel service of the fall semester, this year’s Christmas music chapel will feature performances by the Concert Band, Men’s Glee Club and congregational choir, with a set list including traditional Christmas hymns and contemporary hits like “Mary Did You Know.”

Johnson Hall Christmas Party

  • Time: Wednesday, Nov. 29, 8-10 p.m.
  • Location: Johnson Hall
  • Johnson Hall will open its doors to all of campus for their annual Christmas party. This year’s event will include Johnson’s trademark holiday traditions: roasting chestnuts over an open fire, serving hot wassail, sugar cookies, and hot cocoa for refreshments, and crowning the winners of its floor decorating competition. The night will begin on Johnson Hall’s front steps with a special Christmas reading. 

Christmas Music in the Stuce

  • Time: Thursday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m.
  • Location: Asbury University Student Center
  • Presented by Asbury University’s Music Department, this holiday concert, performed in the comfort of the student center, will feature the jazz ensemble, Chamber Bell Quartet, and Wesley Memorial Handbell Choir, with a special solo performance of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” by senior Patrick Barnett.

Equine Center Christmas

  • Time: Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6-8 p.m
  • Location: Asbury University Equine Center
  • Asbury University’s drill and vaulting teams present “A Christmas Special Demonstration.” Free tickets for this one-time show are available at the front desk of the Luce Center. Shuttles from the Providence School lot (210 S. Lexington Ave) will leave every fifteen minutes from 5:15 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. Guests are invited to dress warmly. Contact:

Songs of the Season

  • Time: Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Location: Hughes Auditorium
  • Asbury University’s Music and English Departments have united again to create a program filled with musical performance and literary readings that honor Christmas and celebrate the winter season.  This year’s program will include traditional carols, music by Chris Rice, Joan Szymko, Gustaf Nordqvist and James Curnow and literary readings of works by G.K. Chesteron, Charles Dickens and much more.

Christmas Devotions with President Gray

  • Time: Friday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m.
  • Location: Hughes Auditorium
  • President Sandra C. Gray closes the fall semester with a Christmas devotion, reflecting and meditating on the nativity story and the hope this season brings.

European Christmas Market

  • Time: Friday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m.
  • Location: Asbury Student Center
  • Hosted by Asbury University’s Intercultural Programs, the European Christmas market will offer refreshments, music, crafts and European fair trade items for sale through Word Made Flesh.

Wilmore Old-Fashioned Musical Christmas

  • Time: Saturday Dec. 2, All day event. See full schedule.
  • Location: Downtown Wilmore
  • Be a part of this beloved community tradition and support local business. Wilmore Old-Fashioned Musical Christmas will feature all-day events including a Christmas Craft Fair, Christmas Holiday Market, carriage rides, painted windows display, tree-lighting ceremony and a grand finale featuring an all-town choir at Wilmore United Methodist Church. The Family Center (next to the caboose) will display a large lit-up Christmas village and have crafts and games for little ones.
