WILMORE, Ky. — Blue ribbons decorated the light posts in front of Asbury University’s campus on Thursday to recognize the faithful service of the Wilmore Police Department.

Saying thank you is a community-wide effort. Local organizations, businesses and residents have also been invited to join Asbury in thanking the Wilmore Police Department by displaying blue ribbons in advance of National Thank a Police Officer Day on Sept. 17.

Service is at the heart of the Asbury experience. In addition to honoring others who serve, Asbury students give back through social justice initiatives, community service projects, disaster relief and much more.

As a community, Asbury will honor the Wilmore Police Department during Chapel on Wednesday, Sept. 14, in a short ceremony that will include representatives of the Police Department and Wilmore Mayor Harold Rainwater.

“We know those who wear the badge endure long hours and are prepared to put their lives at risk for the protection of ours,” said Asbury President Sandra C. Gray. “We wish to thank the officers for the ways in which they keep our campus and community safe.”
