WILMORE, Ky. — This month only, Asbury University’s young alums — class years 2001 and more recent — have an amazing opportunity to make a difference for current students.

Through the end of June, a generous pledge from a donor — who requested to remain anonymous — will match gifts from young alumni dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. If 100 or more young alums make a gift of any amount, the donor will add another $10,000 to the matching challenge.

Part of Asbury’s One Initiative, the matching challenge is an outstanding opportunity for young alumni to make a difference in the lives of students. Gifts directly fund student scholarships, making the Asbury experience accessible for students of all backgrounds.

“Young alumni often think they cannot have a significant impact through giving, but that simply is not the case,” said Chris Schill, director of annual giving at Asbury. “If 100 young alumni added The Fund for Asbury University to their monthly budget by giving $10 each month, that would pay for an entire semester’s tuition for one student. How’s that for impact?”

Schill says the matching challenge is also an opportunity for young alums to step into their roles as leaders, both in the Asbury community and in society.

“Our young alums aren’t just important for our future — they can be making a difference now,” Schill said. “They are a very important part of advancing the cause of Christ in a hurting world and helping us equip more students to do the same.”
