Alumni to Enjoy Musical Reunion at Asbury
May 20, 2016
Were you ever a member of the Jazz Ensemble or Handbell Choir at Asbury University? Pack up your instruments and register for Reunion 2016 — you’re needed at rehearsal!
This summer, June 23-26, former Jazz Ensemble and Handbell Choir members from all class years are invited to attend special events during Reunion 2016. Ensemble members will fellowship, rehearse and perform together, remembering again what makes music at Asbury so special. Alumni of all experience levels are encouraged to participate.
Handbell Choir members will rehearse with Dr. Mark Schell ’87, polishing up their repertoire in several rehearsals before performing in concert at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 26.
Jazz Ensemble members will rehearse with Dr. Glen Flanigan ’82, current director of the Jazz Ensemble, as well as former directors Dr. Ron Holz (1981 – 1991) and Dr. Lynn Cooper (1991 – 2001). The Jazz Ensemble will perform in the Student Center at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.
“I’ve heard from a number of alums who are very excited, and we can’t wait to welcome folks back to campus,” Flanigan said. “We want to encourage everyone to participate — whether alums are still playing their instruments frequently or not, we want them to come enjoy fellowship and music at Reunion.”
In addition to music events, alumni will enjoy a full schedule of activities at Reunion including fellowship with current and former faculty members, Chapel services, campus tours, a celebration unveiling details about the Ignited Campaign and much more.
It’s not too late to sign up — register for Reunion and enjoy a weekend of music, fellowship and celebration.
“There’s just something special about making music together,” Flanigan said. “It becomes a real bonding experience, and it’s going to be highlight of Reunion.”
