WILMORE, Ky. — Bringing together 142 students from many majors across campus, Asbury University’s choral ensembles celebrated Valentine’s Day with a special concert this past weekend.

The Choral Valentine concert is just one of many musical opportunities at Asbury. This year, in addition to Music majors, nearly 200 non-Music majors from all experience levels are singing or playing in Asbury’s ensembles.

An annual favorite, the Choral Valentine concert featured the Men’s Glee Club, Women’s Choir, Chorale and Scherzo (men’s quartet) for a celebration of love in song. Repertoire ranged from romantic favorites (“You Make Me Feel So Young”) to sacred music (“How Deep the Father’s Love for Us”).

Every year, the Choral Valentine concert also includes a poetry contest. In the weeks before the concert, students submit entries which are independently adjudicated. During the concert, the top entries are read and the winner is announced. This year’s winner was Daniel Kozar ’17, with his poem “More People Live in Winter.”
