New Semester Kicks Off at Asbury University
January 11, 2016
WILMORE, Ky. — After a restful Christmas break, students, faculty and staff filled Hughes Auditorium this morning for the first Chapel of a new semester at Asbury University.
Asbury President Sandra C. Gray welcomed students back to campus for a new season of personal, spiritual and academic growth, with a special mention for new students who have come from Colombia, Canada and multiple states – including Alaska.
“It is so good to be back, and it’s wonderful to see all of you students,” Gray said. “Campus has been very quiet and lonely without you, and it’s wonderful to have your smiles, ideas, energy and potential back with us.”
As the campus community begins the second semester of the academic year, Gray urged students, faculty and staff to consider the importance of being set apart for the work of God.
“My prayer for each one of you individually, and for us as Asbury University, is that we will let Jesus’ words in the Sermon on the Mount take root in the very fiber of our being,” Gray said. “Jesus says, ‘You are the salt of the earth; you are the light of the world. Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify the Father who is in heaven.”
