mixtape.jpgWILMORE, KY—Asbury College media communications students have produced a comedy show called The Mix Tape. Starring quirky news anchors and featuring hilarious sketches, The Mix Tape is not unlike the comedy of Saturday Night Live, Kids in the Hall and The Daily Show.

Seniors Jeremy Kozeluh of Lexington, Ky., and Lizzy Tyler of Elgin, S.C., began discussing the project during spring semester 2008. This fall they held an informational meeting and students began lining up to assist with production, writing, public relations and acting.

Production of The Mix Tape brought together more than 50 media communications, theatre and cinema performance, and communications majors. Participants in the screening will make their mark by being recorded for the laugh track.

This presentation of the pilot episode of The Mix Tape marks an unprecedented student initiative. The Mix Tape crew hopes to produce more Web-based episodes throughout the year.

“Students at Asbury are so creative,” said Mark Troyer, vice president for student development. “It continues to impress me that their initiative and ideas are carried out with such excellence.”
