Lexington Brass Band has been supplying great brass holiday music in the Lexington area for the 16 years. The band’s repertoire for ’Tis the Season 2007 ranges from the symphonic-scale of traditional carols to the big-band style of popular songs like “Have Yourself a Merry, Merry Christmas.” This year several items are from the Broadway overture style medley, including White House Orchestra arranger Stephen Bulla’s “The Proclamation of Christmas.” Brilliant fanfares, mellow song settings and scintillating carol collections round out the band’s offerings.

The Asbury College Concert Choir offers Morten Lauridsen’s deeply moving “O Magnum Mysterium.” The choir joins the Lexington Brass Band in recent works including John Rutter’s “What Sweeter Music” and the majestic “The Dream Isaiah Saw” by Glenn Rudolph.

The director of the Lexington Brass Band, Dr. Ronald Holz, professor of music at Asbury College, designs the band’s exciting, one-hour concerts. He is recognized as an international authority on the worldwide music and culture of brass bands in British tradition.
