WILMORE, KY — Asbury College students will perform “Amahl and the Night Visitors” by Gian Carlo Menotti in Hughes Auditorium on campus. Performances of this Christmas opera are Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m.

The community is invited to attend. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $4 for Asbury College students. Tickets are available at the Asbury College bookstore and through the Fine Arts Office. Starring in this year’s production is Adam Schell as Amahl. Schell is a student at Wilmore Elementary School. Kristen Reynolds, a junior, will play Amahl’s mother. Other cast members include sophomore Noah Jacobus as King Balthazar; Asbury Theological Seminary student David Goss as King Kaspar; Asbury College alumnus Kerry Dorrell as King Melchior; senior Amanda Quiggins as the Kings’ Page; Jabob and Sarah Dorrell and Hannah Schell as village children; senior Nicole Bamford as the village dancer and the Concert Choir as shepherds and villagers.

Overseeing this production are Dr. Bea Holz, director; Dr. Ron Holz, orchestra conductor; Professor Virginia Bowles, light, sound, house management and publicity coordinator; and student production assistants, seniors Amanda Bailey and Sierra Leonard.

This production was made possible by a grant from the Paul’s Foundation of Chicago. As a result of this grant, the College will be performing “Amahl and the Night Visitors” for Wilmore Elementary School students Thursday, Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. in Hughes Auditorium.
