WILMORE, KY—Asbury College is hosting “Narnia Night” on December 2 at 7 p.m. in Hughes Auditorium to celebrate the Walt Disney premiere of C.S. Lewis’ “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.” The event is free and open to the public. To register for the event, head over the the online registration page.

Students, in one of Asbury College’s public relations classes, have put together, “Narnia Night,” as part of the $2-million Lilly Foundation Inc. grant. The event will feature scenes from Disney’s movie, to be released December 9, and making the movie clips. Narnia scholars, Dr. Devin Brown, author of Inside Narnia, A Guide to Exploring “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” and Dr. Jerry Walls, editor of The Chronicles of Narnia and Philosophy will give presentations. Attendees will be eligible to win one of 100 free tickets for a December 8 sneak preview of the movie at Cinemark Lexington Green Movies 8. The College is also offering 800 tickets to the preview at a discounted price.

Asbury College English Professor Devin Brown just published his book, Inside Narnia: A Guide to Exploring “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.” The C.S. Lewis expert has been featured in The Dallas Morning News and also interviewed on nationally syndicated radio programs including Janet Parshall’s “America,” the Family Life Network, which broadcasts in seven languages to more than 900 stations worldwide, and the USA Radio Network.

Brown’s book “explores the fascinating symbols, hidden meanings, and easily missed details that swirl in and around Lewis’s famous story.” Brown discusses Lewis’s friendship with Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien and the connections between the details in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Lewis’s real life experiences.
