This conference supports and encourages active, dynamic discipleship in The Salvation Army. By sharing and connecting with other delegates, participants will be empowered to be discipled and to make disciples. Growing Saints brings together soldiers and officers who are passionate about Corps that intentionally fulfill the Great Commission.
Speaker: Phil Needham
Phil Needham (Commissioner) is a retired officer living in the Atlanta, Georgia area. With his wife, Keitha (Commissioner, retired), he shares a vision of The Salvation Army as a missional people of God who are called by Christ to follow him into the world, be his credible disciples, and share his compassion with the excluded. Phil’s writing aims to further that mission. He is the author of Community in Mission: A Salvationist Ecclesiology; He Who Laughed First: Delighting in a Holy God; When God Becomes Small; Following Rabbi Jesus: The Christian’s Forgotten Calling; and Christ at the Door: Biblical Keys to Our Salvationist Future.
Commissioner Philip D. Needham was the Territorial Commander for the USA Southern Territory and retired in 2006. He also carried responsibility for officer training and had been Principal of the International College for Officers. He is a graduate of Miami University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Emory University and holds AB, BD, ThM, and DMin degrees. He has written widely on Salvation Army doctrine and theology.
