Mark Reyes Selected as Salvation Army Coordinator
WILMORE, Ky. — The administration at Asbury University has announced that Mark Reyes has accepted the position of Salvation Army Coordinator at the school.
In his two years working at Asbury, Reyes has provided support and guidance for the online programs. He primarily worked with instructors to assist them with developing courses, and he also trained faculty in new technologies and the use of other online resources. In addition, he worked as the assistant to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
“Mark brings the knowledge and experience needed to help the Salvation Army Officers receive the maximum benefit from our partnership,” said Dr. Bill Hall Jr., Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies. “A full-time dedicated person to this endeavor will help ensure the students will have the best experience possible.”
Recently, Asbury and The Salvation Army deepened their long-standing relationship by forming a partnership that allows Salvation Army officers in the Eastern Territory to earn a bachelor of science in Ministry Management at Asbury. Officers who have earned an associate’s degree through The Salvation Army’s College for Officer Training (Eastern Territory) can apply their previous education toward a specially designed online program in Ministry Management with an emphasis on Non-Profit Administration. The curriculum, which will be taught by Asbury faculty, is geared to be particularly applicable to the environment in which Salvation Army officers work and minister.
“I'm looking forward to being a part of The Salvation Army initiative because it combines two of my primary interests: tailored education and course development,” said Reyes. “I'm excited about the chance to help guide these students through their time with Asbury and assist with facilitating the degree as we launch it for the first time this fall.
“Having served the Online Programs department for two years, I'm glad for the chance to help guide this program that will bring Salvation Army officers to Asbury to take part in our brand new Ministry Management degree. This degree was designed with the Salvation Army in mind and it will be a great tool in helping equip their leaders to further participate in God's mission in the world.”
Reyes majored in Christian ministries while at Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma and holds a master’s degree in Biblical Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary, with a concentration in Old Testament studies.
