Jerry Grugin's Testimony, 3.11.13
God has blessed me. I feel humbled and honored at the privilege of directing the Criminal Justice Program here at Asbury University. Teaching and designing classes has led me down a path where I have developed friendships with students and fellow faculty. Everyone I have associated with at Asbury University has had a deep faith and conviction in Christ Jesus, and I am fortunate to associate with fellow Christians. I was led to Asbury University through a dear friend who was, and still is taking classes in the Adult Professional Studies program. That got me interested in starting my studies in the Masters of Social Work program.
On my first day at Asbury, I was struck and inspired by my professor’s deep faith and commitment to Christ, in addition to his dedication to Asbury University. I was even more inspired when he led a devotional before class began. I had never experienced anything like that at any other university. I have been associated with several universities, but I never attended a university where God was spoken of so freely and with so much enthusiasm. This added an entirely new dimension to the teaching and learning process. Over my time at Asbury, I have developed a deep admiration for other faculty and staff that I think reflect the character of God in a way that I want to -- with conviction, patience, and love.
In the classes I design and teach, I try to incorporate a spiritual dimension to the learning process. I believe that a growing and dynamic relationship with Christ makes for a well-rounded student who is better prepared to face life's challenges. I try very hard to reflect God's character and I want to be a shining example to my colleagues and the students who I am blessed to work with and teach. I feel it is important to share the restorative love of Christ because God is, after all, love.

Mr. and Mrs. Hayes join European Equine-Practitioners Ministry Group, 3.8.13
Jessica Hayes and her husband, Rick have been asked to join a European equine-practitioners’ ministry group which is working this year in the Ukraine. The group of professionals teach practical equine knowledge, but are also granted time to teach the Gospel. This ministry would touch close to 100 equine professionals in that part of the world. The entire ministry team is about 25 people teaching riding skills, equine dentistry, natural horsemanship, farrier science, breeding, stallion management, lameness and several others. They are scheduled to have time to teach the scriptures to help the equine professionals use a Christian approach with their students and clients. This would be an incredible opportunity for Jessica who has worked with horses all her life. She has been privileged to ride and show within several of the top disciplines in the industry. She has trained hunter/jumpers, gaited dressage and show horses with an affinity for training and bringing along young horses. We are proud to have Jessica finishing a degree in Leadership and Ministry this Spring!
