Update

March 25, 2020

March 25, 2020 at 6 p.m. EDT

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

In the spirt of transparency and communication, I want to inform you of the first confirmed case of an Asbury University student diagnosed with COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Today, we received a report involving a student who recently received a positive diagnosis with COVID-19. The student has not been on campus since we were last together on Friday, March 13 and was not exposed to the virus until March 17. We have confirmed the student has not been in contact with any Asbury student, faculty or staff since leaving campus on March 13. Presently, the student is at home in self-isolation.

While the student was not exposed on Asbury’s campus–and moreover, has not been on campus since Friday, March 13–I want to relay this news to the wider Asbury audience to avoid misinformation.

Asbury University Health Services does not believe this confirmed case has put anyone else in the Asbury community at risk. We urge you to follow the CDC guidelines and precautions to keep you and your family healthy (guidelines below).

On behalf of our community, please join me in praying for the full recovery of our student.

Please continue to visit  www.asbury.edu/covid19plan for updates and monitor all University communication channels. In addition, for general Asbury COVID-19 related inquiries, please email Covidquestions@asbury.edu. You can expect a response within two business days.

Our prayers go out to our student suffering from COVID-19, along with the student’s family and friends. We lift up the entire Asbury community and all who are managing with COVID-19. Please join us in doing the same as a unified community.

Many Blessings,

Kevin J. Brown, PhD

President, Asbury University
