Multimedia Emphasis

For students with a love for design, creative problem solving, storytelling, and visual communication.

Multimedia students learn how to communicate and create visually with the latest software and hardware. Students gain real studio experience, working individually and in teams with actual clients to design, organize, and create storytelling interactive multimedia.

Multimedia Courses

Interactive Media 1 & 2

Learn how to edit and manipulate images, create digital illustrations from scratch, create electronic publications, design engaging website and more all while understanding the power of visual communication. Provides an overview of new multimedia technologies and their impact on human communication as well as cultural, ethical, and industry implications. Emphasizes basic design principles for effective digital information architecture and offers a hands-on introduction to building web sites and creating multimedia presentations.

Graphic Design 1 & 2

Fundamental design principles within the context of graphic design, using industry-standard page-layout and digital image-editing software. Two-dimensional visual communication is reinforced, along with typographic principles and a survey of graphic design processes, through problem solving projects and exercises.

Special Events (Highbridge Film Festival)

Advanced studio class that provides students with opportunities to develop ideas, public relations, marketing plans, event management/production, storytelling, graphic design and print production for an actual event. Students generally focus on one area for professional development for a portfolio-quality project. Juniors and seniors only; requires being assigned to a specific area by the professor.

Digital Darkroom Photography

Covers digital imaging techniques from capture to print. This course is designed to prepare the student for both commercial and fine arts applications. Various methods, tools, and techniques of digital imaging and efficient post-production workflow are covered, along with editing, manipulation, file management and preparation, and scanning.

Single Camera

Students learn the fundamentals of single-camera video production, including preproduction, production, and post-production procedures and techniques. The course emphasizes film-style shooting, field lighting and audio recording, producing, editing, and delivering compelling visual stories on time, on budget, and on target.

Social Media and Emerging Tech

This course is organized around three overarching questions. First – what are social media and emerging technologies? Second – what are the effects of social media on the individual and society? Third – how can these technologies be used strategically, ethically and in line with a Christian worldview? Given the ubiquity of social media in contemporary society, answering these questions satisfactorily is important for our personal, professional, and spiritual well-being.

Multi-Camera Production

Survey of the theory, process, and technique of television production including the planning, preparation, and production of various types of studio and remote programs.
