Kaitlyn Estep ’20 completed our Online Social Work program and works as a therapist at Appalachian Regional Healthcare.

“The Asbury Online Social Work program prepared me well for my master’s degree in social work and allowed me to work full-time while attending. The professors were friendly, welcoming, and challenged me to grow. As a Christian, I felt comfortable utilizing my faith in various assignments. I recommend this program to anyone wanting to go into social work.”

Quick Facts

*Field Education Requirements

Social Work students are required to complete Field Education Practicum components for the program in social service agencies programs.  For this reason, online Social Work students need to be able to adjust their schedules, and be able to travel to their placement in order to complete their clinical requirements.  Practicum I (5 credit hours) and Practicum II (8 credit hours) are typically completed during the 3rd and final semesters of the program and require a minimum of 200 agency hours (13.3 hrs/week) and 320 agency hours (21.3 hrs/week) respectively, along with a weekly class seminar. Practicum placements are 16 weeks each.

**Program Accreditation

Asbury University’s Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Accreditation.

Accreditation of a baccalaureate or master’s social work program by the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Accreditation indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of program quality evaluated through a peer review process. An accredited program has sufficient resources to meet its mission and goals and the Commission on Accreditation has verified that it demonstrates compliance with all sections of the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.

Accreditation applies to all program sites and program delivery methods of an accredited program. Accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.
