Mr. Steve '92 & Mrs. Pam Knight '92 English - 2007 Young Alum Award Recipients

Bio from 2011

Steve and Pamela Knight English receive the “Young Alum Award” for their work at La Senda Children’s Home in Guatemala.

This couple graduated from the College in 1992 and married in 1993. Shortly after they married, they felt called to go to Guatemala. In January 1994, they were commissioned by Global Harvesters. They attended language school and ministered for more than two years to the people who live in the Guatemala City Dump. Pam also volunteered teaching at the Christian Academy of Guatemala.

In 1998, Steve and Pam felt a calling to launch a new ministry to build a home for abused, abandoned and orphaned children in Guatemala. According to the United Nations, there are more than 150 million homeless children in the world and 40 million of those children reside in Latin America. The couple started The World Our Parish, Inc. The ministry purchased the land for the new home and created Asociacion Cristiana La Senda. In 1999, the Guatemalan government and the country’s juvenile court system approved the La Senda (The Way) home for children. In 2001, the new facility opened under the auspices of The World Our Parish. Today, La Senda is home to more than 20 children, providing a safe place for them to receive love and care in a family-oriented environment. The home also provides for the education needs of the children, many of whom have been abused and neglected by their biological families.

Steve and Pam have three children, Philip, Andrew and Gabriela.
