London Travel Course
Study at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, London
Dates: Late July – Early August, 2019
Led by Dr. Jim Shores
This remarkable trip offers students weekday classes with exceptional Globe faculty. Instruction in voice, movement, sword play and scene work culminates with a showcase of Shakespearean scenes. Study at the Globe includes tickets to 3 shows that will play in repertoire during that time.
In addition to acting classes, trip includes visits to a number of historical sites, museums and theatres. Visits can include:
- Tower of London
- Westminster Abbey
- St. Paul’s Cathedral
- Churchill’s War Rooms
- Buckingham Palace
- London Portrait Gallery
- National Art Gallery
- Harry Potter Museum
- and more
Students are responsible for purchasing tickets for shows of their choice on evenings off.
Two Asbury faculty will lead and chaperone the trip.
Optional: Add on a week of attending International Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world with 2500 theatre performance daily. 2019 trip will include opportunity to perform at the Fringe Festival for a cast of 6-8 and additional crew. Auditions will be spring 2019.
Who Can Go
This travel course is open to all Asbury students and alumni. We had a nice mix of students on the last trip, some of whom were theatre majors and some were not. Everyone had an amazing time.
- 3.0 Credit Hours towards THA 393 Seminar: Acting at the Globe
- Counts as Cross-cultural Engagement Requirement (CCE 073)
- $2,368 per person
- Includes three credit hours of academic credit, housing, two weeks of instruction at the Globe Theatre, and entrance fee for tours and shows.
- Does not include travel to and from London, meals and personal expenditures
