Housing in Paris

Home Stay

For students who are looking for a full immersion in the French language and culture the option of staying with a local host family in Paris is strongly encouraged. Host families provide an excellent way for students to live as a Parisian and experience everyday life with a local host.  Like their hosts, students take public transportation into central Paris each day for work and school. Asbury University works through a placement agency to thoroughly vet host families and ensure that students will live in a healthy and supportive environment during their time in Paris.

Dormitory housing

For those whose goals do not include full French language immersion in the living environment, dormitory housing is offered in cooperation with St. John’s University Paris, at 93, rue de Sèvres 75006, in the heart of the historic Saint Germain district. This district derives its name from the Benedictine abbey of St-Germain-des-Près, now on busy Saint-Germain Boulevard, across from the famous Café des Deux Magots (a favorite hangout of Hemingway, Sartres and others). The dormitory compound was originally established in the 6th century to house the relics of Saint Vincent within its sanctuary, drawing pilgrims of the Christian faith. Housed in this historic sector, students live and learn in the center of Paris, surrounded by historic markers of French contributions past and present. Attractions nearby include the Louvre Museum, Notre Dame, the Musée d’Orsay and the Luxembourg Gardens. Our partner French language school, École l’ Étoile, is located within walking distance, at 38 Boulevard Raspail.

Dormitory housing offers a 24-hour monitored six-story mixture of dorm rooms, classrooms, dining space, and central administrative office. WIFI is provided throughout. Homestay students join dormitory students for select evening meals at the dorm and enjoy the resources St. Johns Paris for class and computer lab needs. As a cooperating institution with St. John’s Paris, Asbury University seeks to hold students to high standards of conduct and faith in this historically Christian learning and living community.
