Asbury University’s Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Media Communication gives students access to world-class facilities, industry-successful faculty and resume-building resources during their undergraduate journey.

B.A. in Media Communication Curriculum

The Bachelor of Arts in Media Communication degree curriculum includes core major courses, general education courses and elective courses with the goal of broadening a student’s self-understanding and ability to engage and transform diverse cultures.

This 124-credit hour, 4-year undergraduate degree program requires up to 50 credits in core major courses, up to 30 elective credits and 50 credits taken in Foundations courses. Review a list of Foundations courses.

  • Basic and advanced communication theory

Along with built-in internships and projects (over 50 student films are produced each year), Asbury’s media communication core curriculum has eight possible concentrations tailored to various interests and career goals: TV and video production, multimedia, performance, audio production, film production, screenwriting, instructional design, and production design.

Audio Production Major Concentration

Prepare for careers like sound engineer, recording engineer or audio mix engineer with the audio production major concentration, and experience our professional recording studio. Film Production Major Concentration

B.A. in Media Communication students who major in film production take courses like Directing the Narrative Film, Cinematography and Lighting and Screenwriting Fundamentals. Instructional Design Concentration

Our Instructional Design concentration prepares you to be a learning engineer for jobs of the future. With this emphasis, you can design courses, develop curricula, and create training materials across numerous industries, including healthcare, education, and technology. Not only will you learn from supportive professors who are at the top of their fields, but you also can choose to learn online through digital technology platforms, even if you can’t attend in person.

Multimedia Communication Major Concentration

Courses from the multimedia emphasis of the B.A. in Media Communication instruct students in graphic design, digital media technology, social media marketing, content management systems and special event production. It all starts with the story. This emphasis prepares students for a creative life in storytelling, with careers in screenwriting, television writing, playwriting and much more.
