The GRE General Test is required for admission to most graduate progams in the United States. The GRE covers Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing.

How to Schedule

You can take the computer-delivered test once every 21 days, but no more than 5 times in a year. You can take the paper-delivered test as often as it is offered.

  • Students can register online at the official ETS website.  (there is a fee upon registration. )
  • Students can also call the GRE Program, Mon – Fri between 8 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. (ET), excluding U.S holidays. The phone number is 1-609-771-7670 or Toll-Free: 1-866-473-4373
  • Students can also register by mail.
    • Complete the Authorization Voucher Request Form (PDF)
    • Mail the appropriate payment and voucher request form to the address printed on the voucher
    • Allow up to four weeks for processing and mail delivery.

Test Format

A paper based and a computer based test are both offered, however, the frequency of paper-based offerings are limited. There are two sections on verbal reasoning, two sections on quanitative reasoning, and 2 sections on analytical writing.
