Campbell previously served as Director for the Office of Planning & Research in the College of Education & Human Services at Central Michigan University. Dr. Campbell holds a breadth of experience working with faculty, department chairs, deans and student records, as well as institutional software and assessment best practices.
As the first-ever Director of the Office of Planning & Research, Campbell served as the primary audit coordinator for 18 degree programs, as well as the lead on the Unit’s quality control system governing academic matters evaluating curriculum, candidates, faculty expertise, program and course requirements, and facilities.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Asbury University, a Master’s degree from the University of Connecticut and a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University. Prior to receiving his Ph.D., Campbell worked as a program evaluator for a grant from the National Science Foundation in the College of Engineering at Michigan State University.
Dr. Campbell has a unique combination of administrative, assessment, program evaluation and analytical skills, while at the same time possessing an abiding appreciation for Asbury University (Class of 1999 – Seekers) and a deep love for Jesus Christ.
His research interests include academic careers in higher education, planning and policy, and the nature of department chair work.
“For me Asbury represents a place where intellectual pursuit and the person of Jesus coexist as an idea,” Campbell said. “What’s important to me is helping Asbury succeed while remaining true to its heritage, and ensuring the integrity of the institution’s curricular portfolio is a major part of this process. I’m eager to return to Kentucky to join a committed team of professionals. I’m grateful to spend my coming years serving the Asbury community and supporting the general health and welfare of faculty and their departments.”
