RW WestVisiting Professor

Department: Howard and Beverly Dayton School of Business

Office: MO 409

Leadership educator, coach, scholar and author, Dr. West is enthusiastic about the Visiting Professorship hosted in the Dayton School of Business. His focus while at the University is the acceleration of the Business School’s non-profit leadership, especially its view that business is a spiritual, social and economic engine in the alleviation of poverty. He and his professional collaborators have founded several non-profits (Leadership Training International, The Emergence Group), written leadership development books, journals, manuals and articles.  Notable writing projects include:  A Well Furnished HeartFoundations for Emerging Leaders Series and editorial team contributions to the creation of the Journal of Religious Leadership.  The irony of his existence:  he grew up on the Chesapeake Bay, but had to move to landlocked central states like Kentucky and Tennessee to learn how to sail. If you can’t find him, he’s probably somewhere working with an emerging leaders, revising a book draft or plotting the next big sailing adventure with family and friends in the big waters around Nashville, Tennessee.  You can track Dr. West’s Blog, “The Mentor’s Table” at
