Dr. Marcia L. Hurlow has been a professor at Asbury since 1983, teaching journalism, creative writing, linguistics and TESL. Her articles on teaching writing, interviews with writers, and travel have appeared in both academic journals and and popular magazines.
Dr. Hurlow’s individual poems, short stories and creative non-fiction have been published in more than 300 literary journals. She has six collections of poetry, which have won national competitions. The most recent are Brushstrokes on Water (ekphrastic poetry) and Anomie. She has also won national and state-wide fellowships in poetry, including the Al Smith Fellowship twice.
